ABOUT OUR CHURCH

Open Heaven Bible Church (OHBC) first opened its doors on June 5, 2022, in Sandton with a clear and unwavering vision: Jesus Christ is the head of our church. Our covenant with God is the anchor of everything we do, shaping how we live out our calling and purpose.

A Mandate to Build a Church of Acts

Open Heaven Bible Church was birthed from a divine assignment. Pastor Benjamin received a mandate from the Lord to build a "Church of Acts"—a church modeled after the early believers, filled with the power of the Holy Spirit, unwavering in faith, and committed to discipleship, prayer, and community. Just as the early church walked in signs, wonders, and unity, OHBC is called to reflect that same supernatural, Spirit-led movement in this generation.

A Multi-Racial Church, United in Christ

Open Heaven Bible Church is a multi-racial, multi-cultural community where everyone is welcome. We believe that the body of Christ is made up of people from all backgrounds, races, and nations, united in faith and love. Our diversity reflects the heart of God’s Kingdom, and we celebrate the beauty of different cultures worshiping together in unity.

Our Foundation: The Word of God

The Word of God is our final authority. It is the foundation upon which we stand, knowing that it guides, empowers, and transforms. Our services are always Christ-centered, for when we lift Him up, He draws all people to Himself. We honor His presence and authority in every aspect of our ministry.

We are committed to:

  • Worship – A lifestyle of adoration that welcomes God’s presence.
  • Discipleship – Equipping believers to grow in faith and fulfill God’s purpose.
  • Prayer – Seeking the heart of God through consistent communion with Him.
  • Grace & Freedom – Encouraging individuals to walk in their God-given gifts.

A Church That Feels Like Family

At OHBC, every person is valued and belongs. We are not just a church—we are a family, united in the pursuit of God’s will for this generation and the next. We serve with a deep sense of urgency and purpose, ensuring that future generations experience God’s power and presence in profound ways.

Servant Leadership: Leading Like Jesus

Our church is built on servant leadership, following the example of Christ, who came not to be served, but to serve. We believe that by leading with humility and love, we create an environment where people encounter God’s love in deeper ways.

Our Mandate: Reaching Higher Dimensions in God

We are called to go, knowing that we are never alone. God’s promise is clear: “Lo, I am with you always.” With this assurance, we reach for higher dimensions of faith, obedience, and love, knowing that His presence is our greatest strength.

At Open Heaven Bible Church, we are more than a church—we are a movement. We are committed to seeing the Kingdom of God expand in our lives, our communities, and the world.

Join us as we walk in faith, serve with love, and transform lives for His glory.

We Believe

' The secret [of the sweet, satisfying companionship] of the Lord have they who fear (revere and worship) Him, and He will show them His covenant and reveal to them its [deep, inner] meaning. [John 7:17; 15:15.]'

Psalm 25:14

Great Commission

Our community is knitted together by our common goal which is to be committed to make disciples of all people and to grow in our faith.

"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age." (ESV)

Statement of Faith

1. The Scriptures
We believe in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments, in their original writing, as fully inspired by God, to be the verbally and plenary inspired Word of God. We accept them as the supreme and final authority for faith and life, inerrant in the original writings, infallible, and God-breathed (John 16:12-13; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:19-21; Psalm 119:89; Isaiah 40:8; Matthew 5:18).

1.1 The Trinity
We believe there is only one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—co-eternal in being, co-identical in nature, co-equal in power and glory, and executing distinct but harmonious offices in the great work of redemption (Genesis 1:26; Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 45:21-22; 48:16; Psalm 90:2; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Romans 11:33-36).

1.2 God the Father
We believe in God the Father, an infinite Spirit, the Supreme Ruler of heaven and earth, and the Recipient of all our prayers (John 1:18; Colossians 1:15; 1 Corinthians 2:11-12; Matthew 6:6-13; Philippians 4:6).

1.3 God the Son
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, became man, without ceasing to be God, having been conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary to redeem sinful men (John 1:1-2,14; Luke 1:26-35). We believe in His atoning death, resurrection, ascension, and intercession for believers (Romans 3:24-25; 1 Peter 1:3-5; Acts 1:9-10; Hebrews 9:24).

1.4 God the Holy Spirit
We believe in the Holy Spirit as a divine person, equal with God the Father and God the Son. He convicts the world of sin, regenerates believers, and indwells and seals them unto the day of redemption (John 16:8-11; 1 Corinthians 12:12-13; Romans 8:9; Ephesians 1:13-14). We believe in the baptism and gifts of the Holy Spirit for empowerment in service and ministry (John 16:13; Ephesians 5:18).

1.5 The Church
We believe that the one true Church is the whole company of those who have been redeemed by Jesus Christ and regenerated by the Holy Spirit. The local church on earth should reflect the universal Church through faith and confession in Christ (Mark 16:15; Acts 1:8; Romans 1:16; 1 Corinthians 12:12-18; Ephesians 5:23,27).

1.6 Ordinances of the Church
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ appointed two ordinances—Baptism in water and the Lord’s Supper—as acts of obedience and perpetual witnesses to the Christian faith (Matthew 28:18-20; 1 Corinthians 11:23-28).

1.7 Salvation
We believe that salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, who shed His blood for the forgiveness of sins. It is an instantaneous, life-transforming event for every believer (Ephesians 2:8-10; John 1:12; 1 Peter 1:18-19).

1.8 Holiness and Sanctification
We believe in sanctification as a definite yet progressive work of grace, beginning at the new birth and continuing until final glorification (Romans 6-8; 1 Corinthians 6:11; 2 Corinthians 3:18; Hebrews 10:14).

1.9 The Second Coming and Eternal State
We believe in the pre-millennial return of Christ and the resurrection of all men: the saved to eternal life and the unsaved to eternal judgment (1 Thessalonians 4:13-17; Revelation 20:4-6,12-13).

1.10 Christian Conduct
We believe that every believer should live a holy life, separated from worldliness, and devoted to the service of Christ (Romans 12:1-2; 1 Peter 1:14-16; 2 Corinthians 6:14-17).

1.11 Evangelism and Mission
We believe in carrying out the Great Commission through evangelism, discipleship, and missions (Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 1:8).

1.12 Christian Giving
We believe in cheerful and sacrificial giving as an expression of gratitude and worship to God (Genesis 14:18-20; Luke 21:1-4; 2 Corinthians 9:7).

1.13 Civil Government
We believe that civil government is ordained by God for maintaining order in society. Believers are to obey governmental authorities unless they contradict the will of God (Romans 13:1-7; Acts 5:29).

1.14 Satan and the Reality of Evil
We believe in the reality and personality of Satan, the author of sin and the enemy of God and mankind. He is destined for eternal judgment (Isaiah 14:12-17; Revelation 20:10).

1.15 Creation and Human Nature
We believe in the biblical account of creation, that man was made in God’s image but fell into sin, bringing condemnation upon all humanity (Genesis 1-2; Romans 5:12-19).

Conclusion
We stand firm on the unchanging truth of God’s Word and seek to glorify Him in all we do. We commit to spreading the Gospel, nurturing believers, and living in obedience to Christ until He returns.

Their ministry is intentionally built around the biblical blueprint found in the Book of Acts, establishing a church that reflects God’s original plan for His people—a church that is alive, vibrant, and mission-driven.

Pastor Benjamin Peter
Pastor Benjamin, a humble servant of God, began his journey in ministry at the tender age of 12. His deep passion for the gospel has led him to become a sought-after minister, recognized for his powerful teachings and life-changing counsel. Before founding Open Heaven Bible Church, he spent 30 years serving at Rhema Bible Church, where he honed his skills in leadership, ministry, and spiritual development. His pastoral journey officially began in 2010 when he was ordained as a pastor. Over the years, Pastor Benjamin has served in various capacities, including as a zone pastor and in numerous ministerial departments, accumulating over 12 years of experience in church leadership.

Pastor Benjamin’s ministry extends beyond local boundaries. He is also called to minister internationally, with a significant presence in the United States of America, where he has shared the gospel and impacted lives through his anointed preaching and teaching. His international ministry further amplifies his calling to reach people globally, spreading the message of God’s love, healing, and restoration.

Known for his heart for marriage and family, Pastor Benjamin is particularly celebrated for his teachings and counseling, which have been instrumental in restoring and strengthening many marriages. His approach to pastoral care and his ability to bring healing to individuals and families is a testament to his genuine heart for God’s people.

Pastor Mpho Peter

With a spirit of love, wisdom, and grace, she brings a unique blend of compassion and strength to their ministry. Together, they have created an environment where individuals are not only taught the Word of God but are also nurtured in a way that transforms their hearts and lives.

In addition to her role at Open Heaven Bible Church, Pastor Mpho is the founder of Unvanquished Woman, a powerful women’s ministry that encourages women to live an unbeaten, unconquered, and undefeated life. Through this ministry, Pastor Mpho empowers women to rise above life's challenges and to fulfill their God-given destinies. She has a particular heart for women who come from backgrounds of defeat, trauma, and abuse, and her ministry seeks to bring healing, restoration, and strength to those who have experienced hardship. Pastor Mpho’s voice is a source of encouragement and inspiration, and she has ministered at numerous women’s conferences, sharing messages of empowerment and faith that inspire women to walk in their God-given purpose.

Moreover, Pastor Mpho’s heart for serving extends to ministering to women in shelters and prisons. Her dedication to reaching out to women who find themselves in difficult, often painful circumstances has been a significant part of her ministry. Through this outreach, she brings hope, healing, and the love of Christ to those who need it most, making a lasting impact on their lives and showing them that their value is not defined by their past.

Family Life
Pastors Benjamin and Mpho are blessed with three sons: Matthew, Joshua, and Keagan. As a family, they serve together in ministry, embodying the values of faith, unity, and love. Their home is a place of peace, joy, and unwavering dedication to the service of God.

Through their leadership, Open Heaven Bible Church has become a beacon of hope and a center of transformation, where lives are continually changed by the power of God’s Word.
